How much Calories To Consume and To Burn?
The all too common questions that people on diet always ask are:
How much calories do I consume in a day or how much calories do I need to burn in a day?
If you need to lose weight, as doctors will remind you, there is no magic solution except to watch what you eat, exercise and if you are obese, supplement it with diet pills.
One of the ways in which food intake can help you in your weight loss effort is to watch your calories intake. How many calories are needed each day can vary greatly depending on lifestyle and other factors.
Factors that affect your personal daily calorie needs include your age, height and weight, your basic level of daily activity, and your body composition. For more accurate estimates of your calorie needs, you must consult a dietician or doctor. Just as an idea, to lose one pound a week you need to reduce calorie intake by 500 calories each day or 1000 calories per day if you need to lose 2 pounds a week.
Calorie is a unit that measures energy, just as an inch is a unit that measures distance. The more calories a food or liquid has, the more energy it contains. If you do not use all of the energy you have consumed, your body will store the energy as fat. This means your total energy consumed must be lower than the energy used by the body.
Do remember that no food alone could cause weight lost, such as claims of "special foods" that can result in negative calories, this is never scientifically proven. Fruits are often recommended when you are dieting because they are considered to be negative calories foods because they are low in energy. That is not necessarily good because if any low calorie food is replacing another food high in calories then it can be considered good for losing weight.
Calories from liquid or food are the same thing, at least in terms of calculation. It is the amount of energy you body will take in from consuming it.
How do you make your body burn more calories or lose weight quicker?
This can be achieved by increasing your metabolic rate, defined as the rate at which the body burns up calories. A body that consumes and burns 2500 calories a day will stay at the same weight. A body consuming 2500 calories daily but burning only 2000 will gain weight at the rate of about one pound a week.
These are some of the ways to lose weight quickly:
The secret to long-term weight loss is to eat healthy and balanced diet which contains correct proportion of carbohydrate, protein, fat, vitamins, mineral salts and fibre. Losing weight is about changing your lifestye and the way you eat on a daily basis.
Over a period of time, you will get used to eating the right way, and eventually you can eat anything that you want, in moderation and right proportion. In this way you will also be able to maintain your ideal weight.
