Exercising is one of the most effective ways to lose weight and to maintain weight loss. Even if you consume diet pills and watch your calorie intake, it is always recommended that you complement it with exercises. Exercising also has other health benefits like fitness, better blood circulation and overall increased sense of well-being. And when you feel good, you can overcome your stress and anxiety.

Yet many people are too lazy to get into any form of physical activities even if they are desperate to lose their weight. Exercises for weight loss need not be difficult, agonizing, boring or time consuming.

If you are very overweight, you would not want to get into strenous exercise straight away. There are indoor and outdoor activities to choose from and your choice should match your physical condition at that point in time.

Before you start thinking of what kind of exercises that best suit you , remember to write down your weight loss goals and the time frame for you to achieve them. This puts in perspective how much effort is needed to shed off your weight and over what period of time. Choose physical activities that you enjoy doing because when it is fun to do you are likely to continue doing it.

Here are some of the simple and yet exercises that are known to burn fat and increase overall health:

  • Walking is one of the best and safest forms of exercise, and brisk walking for 30 minutes a day for 3-5 days a week is usually recommended.
  • When you are up to it, running is highly effective in burning the fat, it is said that running burns more calories per minute than any other form of cardiovascular exercise.
  • Dancing is a fun aerobic activity to do, and you can have so much fun dancing with your friends and losing weight at the same time.
  • Squats can help to reduce weight around the thighs and help to tone it as well. This does not take much effort.
  • Threadmill is a good indoor exercise which you can do while watching your favourite tv program. Or you might want to do it with stationery cycle.
  • Other indoor activities include push-ups, sit-ups or simply running up and down the stairs.
  • Cycling is easy and fun to do and works on the lower half of your body.
  • You can also do skipping indoor and rather than be a couch potato, just grab your jump rope and skip and still get to watch tv.
  • Pilates and yoga are known to help in weight loss, you might want to invest in videos or classes, you will have fun too.

It is only sensible to take advantage of any physical activities in your environment in order to lose weight. Take the stairs instead of the escalator, clean the house vigorously, walk to the shops, even playing with the children requires you to get physical. And who says weight loss exercise is hard to do?
